I compile regularly using cmake on both Fedora 41 and Fedora 42. I've
not see a crash linking that directory. I just deleted and recreated
my build directory on an F42 system and I still don't see a problem.
Is cmake reusing any libraries from a previous build? This might be a
case where the build is trying to link together an lto and a non-lto
library/file. ISTR some link time crashes when I was trying to get lto
support working.

And it is now working! In addition to deleting the build directory I needed to clean the ccache.

Thanks,

Klaas.
