I have played sample mpeg2, mpeg4, h264, h265, and av1 videos. I've
also done a bunch of cut list editing on mostly mpeg2 files, and on one
or two h264 files.  I haven't had any problems.

Has anyone else tried FFmpeg 8.0?

Should I go ahead and commit these changes?

Yes.
