On the third machine, my living room backend (i5-650 intel-only so no
Nvidia) the PIP has sometimes issues (but not always).
Attached is a "-v playback" log made with the following sequence:
- Start mythfrontend
- Start live TV
- Live TV plays OK
- Start PIP from recording
- Main window with Live TV now stutters
- Exchange PIP and Main window
- Main window with playback of recording now stutters.
- Exit
The log shows that it creates and removes a deinterlacer twice per second.
N.B. Closing the PIP restores correct playback in the main window.

Klaas.
