OK.  Using the MYTHTV_NO_EGL=1 workaround doesn't appear to give 
problems for me.  But I have now seen the same behaviour on 3 
nVidia-free systems, all using HP core2duo hardware and windowed 
displays under kde, in el7 and kubuntu 18.04
