The waiting for database screen is fairly new and VERY irritating. I see 
it on every boot on my parents box with a combined FE/BE using an old 
Mythbuntu setup. It happens when the FE starts marginally faster than 
the BE. I did mention it to Peter and he said it was working how it was 
designed to work :(
