Yes, and we appreciate the time and effort you've spent on the testing.  
We also want to make initial setup and configuration easier for users, 
but finding motivation to diagnose and debug and fix dead code is 
challenging (at least for me).

Yes.  The plan now (unless something changes) is for the setup rewrite 
to be a focus of 0.25 development.
