Would it perhaps be possible to have a backport of this fairly
non-invasive one-liner to 0.23-fixes?

I haven't yet come across a filename which failed and I just did some
more testing with trunk r24339 on a clean Mythbuntu 10.04 and I didn't
find any issues.
