Having three settable timeouts would be nice.  Personally, I would set the
OSD timeouts like so:

Jump/Skip/Speed messages:  1 second
User requested position status:  3 seconds
User requested program info:  13 seconds

A: Because it messes up the order in which people normally read text.
Q: Why is top-posting such a bad thing?
