I will try to make a patch today that will fix compilation on MinGW, 
while keeping in mind the changes you made for VS2008. I will attach it 
to ticket 7859 which was raised for this issue.

Perhaps you can test if it works for you on VS2008 when done, since I 
have no license for VS2008 and then commit it.
