I may have missed something here-- why are you using those URI's at all?  A simple myth:// URI is supposed to work for everything (DVD, BD, ISO, regular file, it's all autodetected)... is something in the code passing the double URI in to the player?

It seems that is what is coming out of mythvideo.  I guess that would be another way to fix it.
