Do you have end-of-recording prompts enabled:

Prompt at end of recording
If set, a menu will be displayed allowing you to delete the recording 
when it has finished playing.

(checkbox in frontend settings under TV Playback)

If so, what happens when you disable that?  If that doesn't change the 
behavior, is there any chance you could apply the play-to-end.patch at 
http://svn.mythtv.org/trac/ticket/6974 and test (with end-of-recording 
prompts /disabled/--and no nead to apply 
mythtv-6974-IsNearEnd_margin_for_end_of_recording_prompt.patch )?
