I was just about to reply and mention that again. :)

The original thought was that the templates could be stored right in the
record table with negative recordids, editted with the regular scheduled
recording editor, etc..  The scheduler would ignore any record entry
with a recordid < 0.

I never got further than the concept though, I didn't do any actual coding.
I think it would be a nice addition.
