This is correct. I saw this bug in action as a byproduct of the issue
with KQED and the HDHomeRun that was discussed on the lists in August
and September 2008

once mythfrontend was "infected," if you will, by a corrupted
recording--by trying to play it, or just from the preview video after
scrolling to it--playbacks of any and all recordings would fail
(<URL:http://www.gossamer-threads.com/lists/mythtv/users/346218#346218>).
#5637 solved the KQED problem, speciically.
