[mythtv] controlling a STB with myth

i control a sky digibox with my mythbackend
before the watershed they often protect a program with a PIN
but there is no obvious way of determining this other than pattern 
matching the screen asking for the PIN

has anybody any ideas about how this could be tackled?
i two hour recording of a static screen asking for a PIN is a waste of 
disk space and very frustrating
