I think we (I) should do another sync. I have patches for using swscale and 
fixing API issues due to the libavcodec bump. VDPAU support will be some 
work, VDPAU support in ffmpeg trunk differs the early patches.

I've already started. If you could easily check if they cause regression 
with ivtv cards a test would be greatly appreciated.
