[mythtv] MythArchive: tcrequant now deprecated: is there an alternative?

tcrequant has been available to shrink-to-fit when creating DVDs in 
MythArchive.  In the new release of 'transcode' it is deprecated and not 
built by default.  Is there a known alternative?

I have seen no problems when using it with target shrinkages of a few 
percent on a CentOS5/i686 box, but with fc10/x86_64 it corrupts the picture.
