Thanks Nigel, that's exactly what I was asking.
This-one-machine, both from svn .21-fixes and from packman rpm will not 
display the OSD until you set the OSB theme to another, then back again 
whereupon it does work. ASUS AN68-AM + Nvidia 8600 + AMD X2.

So the code has a blip on this hardware ??, I'm happy now. Thanks
