Hi

I was just wondering what the status of ticket #2287 and the mythtv_vid branch were at the moment, specifically...

1) what features exist on mythtv_vid which have not been merged to trunk?
2) what bugs are fixed on mythtv_vid which have not been merged to trunk?
3) other than these additional items on the mythtv_vid branch, should it be identical to trunk?
4) Which of the 14 items originally mentionned in #2287 have now been addressed and what others are now in progress?

I ask these questions because I am keen to get OpenGL/XvMC working reliably on my NV6200 system and Mark Kendall has indicated that he intends to do some work on integrating the XvMC/OpenGL solution with the standard OpenGL solution, but this is currently not tracked anywhere.

It may be time to a) close the old ticket indicationg what has been achieved, b) create a new ticket capturing the future work to be done (I am happy to do some of the development once the trunk is reasonably stable with QT4 so I can upgrade my production system to this branch).

It may also be time to c) create a new branch fron trunk for further development. I am not clear on how branches are maintained w.r.t. trunk (are all files merged, is any checking done for consistency between the branches etc) however in my experience of a wide variety of version control systems and branching strategies, I have usually found that it is best to re-create a development branch from trunk after major deliveries have been made. (My understanding is that a lot has been delivered from mythtv_vid, but I could of course be completely wrong). This tends to simplify future merge work and minimise unexpected divergence between the branches.

As I said, I am keen to make improvements to some of the areas of MythTV but I don't want to step on anyones toes, or duplicate work being done by others (particularly the long established developers) but at the moment, it is difficult to assess what is currently going on.

Cheers

Daniel
