1) Correct. Sadly, 'twas needed for MinGW.
Seems harmless on Linux & Mac OS X.


2) Change I was asking about was trivial swab-and-tidy.patch.
Add unsigned char * payload = data + 8;
Hoping to make a little more readable.


Of course, you may not care about that either.
