Generally only bug fixes are backported from trunk to the stable
release (hence the -fixes tag) and you have to wait until the next
release to get the shiny new features. Even then, tweaks to greatly
improve existing behaviour (for example, increasing the mousever delay
time for the program info popup when viewing listings in MythWeb) are
not always backported.

Depending on your coding experience, it is quite often possible to
manually backport features yourself (e.g. new features in MythWeb), in
situations where the backported feature does not rely on other parts
of MythTV being updated significantly. Generally though, requests to
backport new features will not be successful as it's not the best use
of core developers' time.
