[mythtv] myth protocol and a corrupted record

I was writing a "quick app"  to pull some data off of
my BE thru the Myth Protocol.  After some mucking
around with the sockets, I pulled the listing of
recordings using QUERY_RECORDINGS (after
MYTH_PROTO_VERSION and ANN)

The information comes back, but seems to become
chronically corrupted at or around the 16384 byte
mark.  A noteworthy number. My suspicion is that I am
not setting some value correctly on the client side,
but if there is some known issue on the myth BE side
of things, then I would prefer not to bang my head
looking for the problem.

Below is an example of the corruption.  Any thoughts?
