I've attached a new patch to #3041 which makes use of the Xing header for VBR 
mp3s to calculate the track length. This should be several times faster. I'd 
appreciate some feedback - you'll need some VBR mp3s with Xing headers to 
benefit (Lame for example creates a Xing header).

Scanning without patch: 84 tracks in 6:32 (aborted at this point)
Scanning with patch: 375 tracks in 0:32 (aborted)

Files were on an NFS mounted drive which seems to have impacted the results of 
the without patch scan negatively! The majority of the files in the test were 
VBR classical tracks of a 10 minute average length.
