Ah, now we are getting somewhere:

"Warning, it seems like your version of php does not support 
file_put_contents. Video artwork grabbing is disable."

I am running a self compiled PHP 4.4.2 on FC3, and it looks like that 
function to save a stream was only added in 5.1.

It now does add the metadata however, but doesn't grab the cover, 
obviously.
