well, i can tell you now that my 6200TC at stock speeds for playing
back SD content at 1080i with the OpenGL renderer does ok, but if I
use the OpenGL Overlay (which is gorgeous by the way) I have to
overclock and turn off the fade to get it to not skip frames. I can't
get 1080i to playback smoothly with the OpenGL renderer and no
deinterlacing though.

So I can imagine a 7 or 8 series will be needed for all the fancy
stuff to be turned on.

I also can't get mythvideo to playback some 1080i mpeg ps streams I
made using mythtranscode of recordings. I get this in the log output:
