I can verify that the truncated stubs a) don't go away over time (if
"time" = more than a day) and b) don't go away when the cifs mount is
unmounted. I can't speak to whether they go away when the NAS is
rebooted but that that, of course, is not an ideal solution.

I'll raise the issue on the Infrant Web forum. Since, as I've
mentioned, the .nfsxxxx stubs do go away, it's quite possible it's a
bug in the NAS's firmware.
