Funny, I was thinking today to send an email to ask just the same thing.

I think the main problem is that David Engel has been very busy and not
able to spend time on it, and it's his area of myth.

I think it was said that there are some corner cases it doesn't exactly
handle correctly, which is why it has not been merged yet. Having said
that I've used it constantly since it was first developed and have yet
to see it break. I think it is a considerable improvement (haven't
missed the end of a program while using the patch, used to happen at
least once a month beforehand).

I hope it is merged soon, and I'm sure any minor glitches could be
sorted out afterwards.
