What I called a listings error in this situation--on John's system--is
most likely coming from DataDirect. Since I know Mark is using EIT in
addition to DataDirect, I included a few references to EIT as I
described John's data. I wasn't trying to say the EIT grabbers are
providing bad data.

DataDirect does. I don't know about other grabbers, though.

Based on your response--specifically, the fact that EIT grabbers aren't
marking episodes as generic--I think the EIT grabbers are doing the
right thing.
However, since I'm pretty sure Mark /is/ running mythfilldatabase in
addition to using EIT grabbers, the generic episode thing may actually
have an effect on him. Since mfdb sets any program with blank
programid, subtitle, and description as generic--whether the listings
data were provided by mfdb or by EIT grabbers--some of his listings
provided by EIT grabbers may, in fact, have been marked as generic.
