The OP was describing (without actually saying so) a recommended change 
to the MythTV HOWTO ( http://mythtv.org/docs/mythtv-HOWTO-5.html#ss5.4 
--I suppose he thought everyone had memorized the HOWTO).  While I agree 
that the "make qmake" is unnecessary, if there's an issue with the jobs 
argument for the recommended approach to building on a single-CPU 
machine, we should probably fix it.  (Although, I don't necessarily 
think we should recommend "-j 2" for the "simplest-case" description of 
a build.)
