This has some interesting implications:

Assuming you could get a minimum 4x performance improvement over a
"high-end" cpu, this would be a great reason to install a higher
performance graphic card in a backend system like a:

Which would be a fairly inexpensive upgrade to the encoding
performance compared to buying a whole new system.  OK, you might need
to buy a new power supply...
