Ok, then that sounds fine as a work-around for this broken SDT problem
for now. I'll sync the EIT tree to svn head then and so we can start
applying those outstanding patches to the EIT tree.

So explain to me what exactly is valid and what is not on this channel.

SDT is missing. Do you also have valid EIT on this transport, or is
it located on another transport? Also is this DVB-C ? I've seen reports
of whack tables in DVB-C, presumably because they aren't as regulated.

One solution would be to just add a "tuning_method" column to the
channel table, but I'd prefer a workaround that doesn't require this,
or at least detects this problem in the channel scan and set this
"tuning_method" column automatically.

BTW I'm surprised the channel scan even picked up this channel as a DVB
channel. Did you maybe use an external scanner to find the channel?
