Might be a good time to look at implementing (starting to implement) 
your plan to create a job for the user to rebuild the seektable for the 
user...  ;)  One more button to "Rebuild seektable" (or something), and 
probably a popup to say to give it a few hours before trying to edit 
again, and maybe some code for dealing with requesting multiple 
seektable rebuilds, and...  Hmmm.  Now I see why you haven't done this, 
yet.  :)
