I don't know. But the failures are different. Psofa's recordings 
(live-tv) get regular stopped by the missing frontend after the crash. 
He will post his backend logs.

But an error in the transmitted stream seems at least equally unlikely. 
And the zero pid in the PAT is maybe an initialized value. But I should 
look at the code before making wild guesses.

I agree. We should do both and fix the symptom only after we found the 
error in PAT creation. Even if the PAT is invalid, mythtv shouldn't 
crash.
