Wasn't this patch applied by the ffmpeg maintainers just as soon as it was
written? And then brought into mythtv by Isaac resyncing ffmpeg a few days
later?

I've certainly viewed the BBC HD test successfully (albeit slowly) since
then or is there something I'm missing?
