Hmmm, that is a problem. Could you create some session class like the
RTSPComms class in the freebox recorder and then pass it along to
the recorder? Perhaps via FirewireChannel, which will be open the
whole time?

No, that was the original intention, but too many devices have
problems with continuous signal monitoring. When that is enabled,
it will be an opt-in system.
