so I need to install a player that uses libasound?

Ok, I uninstalled myth, removed all files related to Myth (except sources), 
rebooted the machine, installed the version I compiled on my other machine. 
no go. I noticed that my versions of libasound and gcc and g++ are the same 
on both machines yet the other one doesn't have the problem and my mythbox 
still does...

If I upgrade/downgrade libasound will I need to recompile?
