I don't think this is needed. But it is how I handle time.

No, not since Windows 95. But I know that Microsoft Windows likes to set
the hardware clock to localtime. But I believe you can get around this
by telling it that you live in Iceland for the timezone setting, because
Icelandic time is always UTC (i.e. there is no daylight savings time
there). The Windows clock will be report Icelandic time, so if that is
not acceptable you can add ntpdate to your Linux startup. With ntpdate
in your startup Linux will get the date from the network and ignore the
hardware clock.
