Hey guys!

How's it goin? Hey, this was a question I posed yesterday on the Users list,
but I think it's turned more into a development question at this point so I
moved it to this list.. Basically, I'm trying to figure out how to enable
multichannel audio playback without exporting over S/PDIF.

While dinking around in the code, I found a couple places where the maximum
number of channels was hardcoded to 2.. When I reset this to 6 and setup my
audio device to ALSA:default, I started getting all 6 channels of audio, but
they were all coming out of wrong speakers (IE: center came through right
rear) when playing a 5.1 stream. When playing a stereo stream with the max
channels boosted to 6, everything seems to play correctly..

So, just a couple quick questions:
1) Is there any particular reason why the max number of output channels are
currently hardcoded to 2? Would changing this break something somewhere else
to change it?
2) Does anyone have any ideas as to why all 6 channels of audio would be
decoding but routing to the wrong speakers? I'm sure it's not my ALSA
configuration because when I play multichannel audio streams from other apps
everything goes to the correct speakers..

Thanks and have a good one!!!
jim

That setting has absolutely no effect on what is recorded. It is _only_ used
for playback.
