Ive also had livetv problems even with HEAD
so I investigated this morning.
in TVRec::SetupSignalMonitor

there is a comment
// TODO reset the tuner hardware

I put in the line
channel->SwitchToInput(channel->GetCurrentInput(),
channel->GetCurrentName());
the original commented out line didnt work/retune

now it works but cant test further today as its in use.
this is in australia dvbt and 2.6.11 drivers.

however when I go out of browse mode to fullscreen, it retunes which is
probably not desirable.
recording still works and only tunes once which is good.
