Ah, but you miss the point of the patch

I know you could make menu themes for the old menu system
but this changes the menu system.

I have made custom menu themes for myself for various purposes before,
but i don't think  this reorganization can be accomplished by simply creating 
a new menu theme (i suppose I could keep the old functions for backwards 
compatibility, instead of replacing them completely)

I printed out a screenshot of every setupscreen and marked different scattered 
items into categories like "LiveTV Settings" or "Recorded TV Settings"

My aim was to give a proper place for different setup items that have been 
stuck under 'general' screens.
