Not to get too off-topic here, but I just wanted to point out that 
mplayer can be set up to approximate Myth's bookmarks.  See the 
attached script, which uses MPlayer's EDL (Edit Decision List) feature 
to set bookmarks (press 'i' while watching in mplayer), and the "-ss" 
option to resume at a certain point if a bookmark exists when the file 
is played back.
