What you decribe wouldn't be a useful feature for me, I wouldn't view a
'watched' count as something authoritative in terms of who's watched what
shows.

It would be something I would be willing to do, therefore you can assume
it would be useful to at least SOME users.  I would imagine that any
household with multiple people using mythtv could benefit from this
feature.

And it has no impact whatsoever on users who choose not to use the feature.

To me, that sounds like a recipe for a feature that makes sense.
