The guy at linpvr.org seems to have it down to the smallest possible 
footprint although he's doing a frontend-only system and targeting 
epia-m systems. Still, you could poach his approach and come up with a 
minimum full system.

However, I would agree with the others who pointed you towards 
KnoppMyth. Unless you're really into tinkering it's your best bet.
