Then if you want them saved, toggle the "Don't auto expire" on the recording.

I don't *need* it either, having 400Gb's of HDD space for regular SD
recordings, but I have Auto-Expire enabled anyways, just in case I
(Say) go away on holiday for a week and Space does another "Andromeda
Day", filling the HDD in very short order.

If you don't need it, then great, you can safely leave it enabled
knowing that all your recordings are safe. I don't see any reason why
you should not have it enabled, for a safety-net if nothing else.
