I had the same thing last night with NCIS, it had the dolby surround water 
mark but I was only seeing dolby stero content. I have been told that channel 
nine sometimes do strange things. I can't see how it could be myth, we simply 
take the AC3 data and pass it through to the decoder there is no way we are 
reducing the number of channels, as I understand it.

It should work but not tested. There is not much to the patch, just some logic 
to correctly inititialise the sound card when the streams change, logic to 
select AC3, and a massive hack to the mpeg.c and transform.c to get the AC3 
data to the sound card intact. I am still working on fixing the hack.
