Well the cause of my problem I broke down to being that I upgraded my 
backend to current cvs maybe 5 minutes after my frontend, and the 
frontend was trying to connect to a backend with a different schema 
update I guess.  My other frontend was updated to CVS right after the 
backend and worked fine.
