I will give it a go. Got most of the stuff working with darwinports now.

Will try your patches and see what I can do.

I guess putting it in a compressed diskimage file would be the ideal
solution.

The fixes to make mythfrontend standalone could probably be interesting
for other
OSes as well. You don't need all the stuff if you only want to use your
laptop
to watch tv ;-)
