I just tried v29. Fast Forward and skip is working. Either your small
fix did the job, or...
When I tried the previous version, I was running the latest CVS on both
backend and frontend, but I only applied *your* patch to the backend.
Would that cause a problem?
For v29, I applied it to both the front and backend.

Ditto.

I assumed it was a frontend problem. I tried to look through the CVS
commits, to see if I could spot a change that would cause it, but after
reverting all the likely candidates, the problem was still there.

Yup, it is fixed.

With the latest CVS/v29, changing channels in LiveTV, causes the
frontend to segfault just about every time. I watch LiveTV soo rarely,
that I don't really care about this. Just discovered it because I was
testing your patch. I have not tried the latest CVS without v29
applied, so I don't know what the cause is. If it is still happening on
Saturday, I will try to get a backtrace.

Thanks,

John
