OK, but the main thing this is likely to change is that the sample rate 
is often locked to 48Khz (what card did you say you have?  What rate are 
you recording at?).  Also, it could affect the buffering in the 
soundcard if, for example, your driver is broken.

Well, that's probably due to external delay in your AV processor?  If 
the audio lagging the video for example?
