This has actually been happening for at least a few months: it's not
related to any recent changes as far as I can tell.  It also doesn't
seem related to what's going on on-screen: I also don't see anything
in the logs when this happens, though admittedly I'm not running it
with --verbose audio.  I'll try that.

I suspect the problem has to do with ALSA, but is being aggravated by
Myth's behavior.  I have to do more digging to really figure it out,
though, and I haven't had the time.

Pentium 4 3.2 w/HT, on-board ICH5 sound, ALSA CVS from a few days ago
(though it happens with 1.0.5 and 1.0.6 also).  PVR-250, PVR-350, and
pcHDTV.
