[mythtv] A/V sync problem since 0.16

Hi,
I've finally got around to installing 0.16, and as much as most of my old problems
have gone, there's now a new one.
The A/V gets out of sync within a few minutes, slowly getting bigger, until it's
unwatchable. Video always lags behind sound.
This happens with both liveTV (DVB) AND playback of old shows (recorded on 0.15).
(mplayer plays the old shows fine without sync problems)
Someone else on mythtv-users seems to be experiencing the same problem:

I built from the debian 0.16 sources, and enabled XvMC support (which I need because
my CPU is too slow).
I tried the various audio buffering options, and the video sync option, and none have
made any difference.
Any ideas?
